Denzel did not want to hurt the hearts of his female African American fan base. He said no to a sex scene with Julia Roberts. Denzel made the following statement.,"Black women are not often seen as objects of desire on film. And they have always been my core audience." This statement says that Denzel is aware which group is paying his bills and making him a rich man and ,it is not new booty. Denzel also has turn down roles which made heavy use of the N word.
