The National Alliance Foundation, a non-profit network committed to promoting peace and harmony while raising funds and awareness for cancer, announced today plans for the Annual National Alliance Foundation's Reggae Summer Fest for Cancer Research reggae show. The annual concert will again bring top-flight reggae and entertainment to Washington DC.

Reggae Summer Fest as it is billed for Cancer Research, hopes to once again attract reggae music lovers and people who have an affinity for Caribbean culture to the DC area on Sunday August 30, 2009. “Last year Reggae Summer Fest came together relatively well, and the quality of the performances increased dramatically as the sun set -- with the best coming last said Christopher Porter from the Washington Post. The tremendous soul singer Beres Hammond, backed by a large, tight band, displayed supreme stage command during a powerful, hit-stacked 50-minute set that brought out the joyful side of reggae. As Bob Marley sang, "One good thing about music/When it hits, you feel no pain."

Continuing the trend of providing high-quality diverse entertainment in the Nation’s Capital, The National Alliance Foundation officials claim that this festival will again be different, in that a broader slate of popular artistes will be presented, and as before, there is a worthy cause behind the anticipated revelry.

Patrons will enjoy music, food, and a variety of items from the many vendors who will be exhibiting. Children 12 and under will be admitted free, while adult admission start at $45 advance ticket. Limited VIP tickets and general admission tickets are available at Ticketmaster and a number of Caribbean businesses including Caribbean Breeze located in Virginia, Caribbean Sea in Maryland and Logan Circle Liquor located in Washington DC.

The lineup includes national and internationally known reggae artistes Beenie Man, Capleton, Cocoa Tea, I-Wayne, Marcia Griffiths, Jovi Rockwell, Mahmoud Ahmed from Ethiopia, Fire Star, Nesbeth and Terry Linen.

The legion of local area bands include Image Band, The I-Ternals, Lionize, Raslidj & Deep Band playing Regggo, STORM, Kadar, Kunzo & Tonestar from Nigeria, British, Hutchy, Hya Dream, Mr. Tex and Zulan Obrian.
