Would you sell your food stamps? Would sell them after you were told by the government not too because it is against the law? Would sell them to pay your rent?
If you remember the welfare reform act in the 1990's, you may recall this was suppose to put the lazy back to work and stop the free loaders. You may have seen some 40 something in the 90's work at McDonald's because the government only allowed them to receive cash supplements for a short period of time in most cases no more then 2 years. You may asked yourself about your cousin moving habits from county to county and state to state. This process had become the new game in the welfare shuffle.
The shuffle was cool for those who wanted to play the game but, in today's "Great Recession", as stated on Democracy Now, people are falling on welfare that don't know how to play the shuffle game but, all they know is to survive and help their families survive.
Colorlines.com has a detail report about families selling their foots stamps to help their kids by shoes, pay rent , pay utilities and buy tampons. I guess the "Great Recession" is cutting deep.
